Area students part of Mount Marty group
Mount Marty College’s Smooth Benediction has been selected to compete in the 2014 International Championships of Collegiate A Cappella.
Smooth Benediction is a select a cappella choir whose repertoire ranges from popular music to musical theater to oldies. This group performs for admission events on campus, local events in the community and at competitions.
Smooth Benediction will compete in the Midwest quarterfinal being held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on Feb. 15. The top two groups from the quarterfinal round go on to the semifinal competition at Illinois State University, in Normal, Ill., on April 5.
Area students who are Smooth Benediction members include: Tessa Carda, Armour; Kaleb Carsten, Kimball; Danieka Novak, Wagner, Johanna Scheich, Ethan; Stacey Schleich, Mitchell; Rachel Shippy, Colome; and Kelsey Thury, Mitchell.
