SDSU football lands three on All-American team
Three South Dakota State University football players were named to The Sports Network Football Championship Subdivision All-America Team, it was announced Wednesday.
Senior offensive lineman Bryan Witzmann and junior running back Zach Zenner were repeat members of the first team, while senior cornerback Winston Wright earned third-team honors.
The three selections mark a team-high for the Jackrabbits in the team’s Division I era.
SDSU ended the season 9-5, falling in the second round of the FCS playoffs to Eastern Washington University.
Jackrabbit men top Wayne State 75-56
BROOKINGS — The South Dakota State University men’s basketball team topped Wayne State 75-56 Wednesday in Brookings.
The Jackrabbits (6-7) were led by Jordan Dykstra with 18 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Cody Larson and Brayden Carlson each added 16 points in the win.
SDSU shot 79.2 percent from the field in the first half, and outrebounded the Wildcats 31 to 27 in the game.
The Jackrabbits play the University of North Dakota at 4 p.m. Saturday in Grand Forks, N.D.
USD linebacker Tyler Starr earns All-American honors
University of South Dakota senior linebacker Tyler Starr was named to The Sports Network All-American team, it was announced Wednesday.
Starr led the Missouri Valley Football Conference in sacks with nine and Tackles for loss with 15.
He was second on the team in tackles with 71 and forced four fumbles.
