DWU men drop GPAC game to Northwestern
ORANGE CITY, Iowa — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team allowed two second-half goals in a 2-0 loss to Northwestern College Saturday in Orange City, Iowa.
Gabriel Goncalves scored both golas for Northwestern.
Alex Nelson made five saves for the Tigers, who failed to register a shot in the loss.
DWU (7-4-1, 2-2-1 GPAC) play Doane College at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
Kernel XC teams take 8th at ESD
HARRISBURG — The Mitchell girls’ and boys’ cross country teams each finished in eighth place at the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet
Brookings won the boys’ competition, while Harrisburg won the girls’ team title.
The Kernel boys were led by Riley Cowins, who was 32nd with a time of 18 minutes, 34.13 seconds. Mary Krause led Mitchell in the girls’ race with a time of 16:56.25 for 30th.
The Kernels are back in action Thursday in Yankton.
Red Raiders blank Wesleyan women 2-0
ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Northwestern College did not allow a shot on goal and got two second-half goals to top Dakota Wesleyan University’s women’s soccer team 2-0 Saturday.
Goalkeeper Erika Carpenter kept her team in the game, making seven saves for DWU in the loss.
Jo Jensen and Alissa Christoffer each netted goals for Northwestern.
DWU (4-8-1, 1-4 GPAC) plays Doane College at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex in Mitchell.
Wesleyan XC competes at Briar Cliff Invitational
NORTH SIOUX CITY — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s cross country team finished 11th out of 12 teams, while the women finished seventh out of nine at the Briar Cliff Invitational Saturday in North Sioux City.
Kellan Willet was the top finisher for the men in 21st place with a time of 26 minutes, 35.57.
The Tiger women were paced by Haley Brunke with a time of 19:29.05.
DWU next run at the Mount Marty invite on Oct. 26 in Yankton.
