Area sites chosen as best in health program
Parkston, Redfield, Wessington Springs, Winner, Wagner and Philip have been selected as Best Practice Model sites for the Rural Experiences for Health Professions Students Program (REHPS) 2012.
The REHPS program connects interdisciplinary groups of students enrolled in medical, physician assistant, doctor of nurse practice, and pharmacy programs through the University of South Dakota and South Dakota State University with medical professionals practicing in rural communities throughout the state.
To determine sites noted for being best practice models for providing rotation and shadowing experiences for health profession students, Yankton Rural Area Health Education Center consults the REHPS Advisory Panel, faculty from Sanford School of Medicine at USD, and faculty from SDSU. In addition, results from previous student rotations, quality and excellence of preceptors at the facility, and overall community involvement and support are considered.
