Area schools place at archery tournament
YANKTON — The 2014 South Dakota National Archery in the Schools Program champions were crowned over the weekend at the tournament in Yankton.
Three area schools and one individual placed in the event. In the middle school team division, Avon took second with 2,006 points and Plankinton was third with 1,961 points. Avon also took second in the high school division with 2,059 points, while Dakota Christian finished third with 1,938 points.
McCook Central’s Austin Stromberg was second in the middle school division with a score of 268. There were 30 schools and 350 archers in the event.
“The archers were of exceptional quality; with a high level of sportsmanship exhibited by all of the student athletes,” South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks NASP Coordinator Jason Kool said in a press release.
