Area high school basketball roundup 01/12/13: Schweitzer's basket lifts Huskies over Menno 45-42
BRIDGEWATER -- Jacob Schweitzer tipped in a basket at the buzzer to help lift Bridgewater-Emery to a 45-43 victory over Menno Friday.
Clayton Dye led Bridgewater-Emery with 26 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Schweitzer had 10 points for the Huskies.
Menno was led by Austin Herrboldt, who scored a team-high 19 points.
Dylan Lehr led the Wolves in rebounds with eight.
Bridgewater-Emery (3-5) plays Marion Tuesday in Marion. Menno (2-4) takes on Ethan Monday in Ethan.
Lyman 42, Stanley County 38
MURDO -- The Lyman boys' basketball team recorded its fourth win of the season after defeating Stanley County 42-38 in the Jones County Invitational Friday.
The Raiders went 16-of-44 from the floor and recorded 28 rebounds.
Jaelani Uthe led Lyman with 13 points and seven rebounds. Jaylen Uthe added 11 points.
Stanley County (1-8) was led by Tucker Fishbach who scored a game-high 19 points.
Lyman (4-4) plays Bennett County today at the Jones County Invitational.

Freeman 71, Marion 36
FREEMAN -- Cole Paulson scored a game-high 27 points to lead Freeman over Marion 71-36 in a high school boys' basketball game Friday.
Brennan Schmidt scored 11 points and Shaun Becker added 10 points and 10 steals in the win. Caleb Long led the Flyers in rebounding with 11 and Paulson brought down six.
The Flyers were 28-of-60 from the field, 9-of-15 from the three-throw line and had five turnovers.
Marion's Nick Gortmaker scored a team-best 20 points and Jacob Wuertz had 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Bears were 15-of-36 from the field, 6-of-15 from the free-throw line and had 24 turnovers.
Freeman improved to 4-2 overall and plays Centerville Tuesday, while Marion fell to 1-6 on the season and hosts Bridgewater-Emery Tuesday.

McCook Central/Montrose 64, Sioux Valley 58
VOLGA -- Four McCook Central/ Montrose boys' basketball players scored in double figures as they beat Sioux Valley 64-58 in a Big East Conference matchup Friday in Volga.
Will Gottlob led McCook Central/Montrose with a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds. Brandon Reif scored 15 points, while Jake Heumiller and Zach Bies each finished with 10.
Jake Larson led Sioux Valley (7-3) in scoring with 15 points.
McCook Central/Montrose (6-3) plays Flandreau Friday in Flandreau.
Platte-Geddes 47, Tripp-Delmont/Armour 33
PLATTE -- Josie DeGroot recorded a double-double in Platte-Geddes' 47-33 victory over Tripp-Delmont Armour in a high school girls' basketball game Friday in Platte.
DeGroot had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Kelly Knudson had 13 points and seven steals. Brianna Erickson had a team-high nine rebounds.
The Black Panthers shot 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from the free-throw line.
Kelli Baterman had 17 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Hannah Just recorded 10 points and LaNae Fuerst brought down six rebounds.
The Blackhawks shot 31 percent from the field and 50 percent from the free-throw line.
Platte-Geddes (8-2) plays South Central Tuesday, TDA (0-11) plays Andes Central Monday.

Wessington Springs 66, Hitchcock/Tulare 56
WOLSEY -- Devin Tebay recorded a double-double to help lift Wessington Springs to a 66-56 victory over Hitchcock/Tulare in the 281 Tournament Friday.
Tebay finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sheyanne Brodkorb led all scorers with 24 points, while Cassidy Musik scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Musik also recorded eight steals for the Spartans, who shot 50 percent from the field.
Hitchcok/Tulare was led by Taylor Knippling, who scored 19 points, brought down seven rebounds and had three assists.
Wessington Springs improved to 4-5 on the season.
Highmore-Harrold 50, Wolsey-Wessington 7
WOLSEY -- Wolsey-Wessington lost its seventh game of the season after falling to Highmore-Harrold 50-7 in the 281 tournament Friday.
The Warbirds were led by Brittany Bergguist, who grabbed 10 rebounds and scored four points.
Wolsey-Wessington was 2-of-22 from the field and committed 32 turnovers.
Highmore-Harrold had two players score in double figures. McKenzee Zilverberg finished with a game-high 13 points and Courtney Keller chipped in with 11. Keller also added seven rebounds.
Highmore-Harrold improved to 10-0 this season, while Wolsey-Wessington is now 2-7.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 64, Iroquois 23
HURON -- Shelby Selland scored 20 points to lead Sanborn Central Woonsocket to its seventh win of the season over Iroquois 64-23.
Selland was the only SC/W player to score in double figures. Rachelle Moore and Marissa Weber each added nine.
The Blackhawks outrebounded Iroquois 34-21 in the game.
No players from Iroquois scored in double-digits. Kelsey Blue and Allison Bich each finished with seven points. Amber Jacobs led Iroquois in rebounding with eight.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket (7-0) plays Warner today at the Hanson Classic in Mitchell.

James Valley Christian 48, Sunshine Bible Academy 24
WOLSEY -- Three James Valley Christian girls' basketball players scored in double figures to help the Vikings defeat Sunshine Bible Academy 48-24.
Anna Ulvestad led all scorers with 16 points. Jaclyn Loben recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Tara Nihart chipped in with 10 points for the Vikings, who made 10 three pointers. The Vikings are 6-3 overall.
Sunshine Bible Academy (5-4) was led by a pair of eight point scorers in Sarah Pedersen and Tricia Wilken. Wilken also led the Crusaders in rebounds with 10.
Both teams continue play in the 281 conference tournament Monday in Huron.

PARKSTON -- The Wagner girls' basketball team had three players in double-digit scoring figures and topped Parkston 48-44 Thursday.
Ali Kuca and Nicole Weber led the Red Raiders with 11 points apiece. Gina Soukup had 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Wagner was 11-of-36 from the field, 4-of-8 from the line and had 12 turnovers.
Parkston was led by Erica Herrold, who had a game-high 17 points. Logan Wagner scored 10 points and had a team-best seven rebounds.
The Trojans were 15-of-50 from the field, 13-of-16 from the free-throw line and had eight turnovers.
Both teams play in the Hanson Classic at the Corn Palace in Mitchell today.
