ALEXANDRIA -- Jared Long had a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown to lead Mount Vernon past Hanson 24-14 in a high school football game Friday night.

Long had 20 carries for 79 yards rushing. His 3-yard touchdown opened the game and he had a 22-yard pass to Cote Hinker in the second quarter.

Deric Denning was 6-of-12 passing for 87 yards. Long was 2-of-2 passing for 92 yards.

Cote Hinker had 15 tackles. Cody Renken had eight tackles. Jonathon Sweet had seven tackles.

Hanson's leading rusher was Jacob Paradeis with 14 carries for 130 yards. Tyler Pringle had 10 carries for 70 yards. Pringle was 4-of-9 passing for 73 yards. Pringle had eight tackles. Jordan Marquardt had eight. Mason Meyer had seven. Jacob Paradeis had 6.

MENNO -- Plankinton kept Menno from scoring until the fourth quarter as the Pirates won 18-6 Friday.

Plankinton's leading rusher was Garrett Lawson with 20 carries for 118 yards. Logan Evans had 76 rushing yards on 19 carries. Garrett Lawson and Matthew Fry each had five tackles.

Austin Herrboldt led the Wolves offense with 58 rushing yards on 19 carries. Dustin Lehr added 11 yards rushing on two carries. Herrboldt was 4-of-12 passing for 64 yards. Parker Schultz recorded 44 yards on two receptions. Lehr led the defensive effort with 17 tackles. Schultz added 13 tackles and Jackson Diede added 12.

Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian's Richard Sternberg recorded 11 rushes for 40 yards. Coby Johnson had seven rushes for 35 yards. Carter Dykstra had five rushes for 32 yards. Matthew Randall had six rushes for 30 yards. Johnson was 8-of-16 passing for 141 yards. Sternberg had six receptions for 117 yards. Randall had two catches for 24 yards. Drew Turnis led the team with 13 tackles. Zach Van Zee had 7.5 tackles. Matt Warejcka had four tackles and Jake Johnson had four tackles.

Logan Mudder was 2-of-5 passing for 30 yards. Brendan Anderson had a 26-yard reception. Avon's leading rusher was Brandon Kocmich with 66 yards on one carry. Mudder rushed for 55 yards on 17 carries. Devin Tolsma rushed for 53 yards on 16 carries. Tolsma and Anderson each had 12 tackles.

Turner Serr rushed for 100 yards on 20 carries for South Central and was 2-of-5 passing for 48 yards. Garrett Bruns had 64 rushing yards on 12 carries and had two receptions for 48 yards. Serr had 17 tackles. Sam Hazen added 13 tackles.

Trevor Reinesch led the WiLdKats in rushing with 126 yards on nine carries. Jacob Kirsch rushed 60 yards on 18 carries. Kyle Peters rushed for 39 yards on eight carries. Jesse Taylor was 9-of-16 passing for 187 yards. Eathen Gaulke had three receptions for 74 yards. Peters had four receptions for 64 yards. Reinesch and Gaulke each recorded 12 tackles in the win. Kirsch added nine.
