DWU women’s team rallies for tie against Midland
FREMONT, Neb. — The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s soccer team rallied from two goals down to earn a 2-2 tie with Midland Saturday in Fremont, Neb.
Senior forward Thara Ali Said netted both goals for the Tigers (4-10-1), including the game-tying tally in the 89th minute to send the game into overtime.
Midland (6-6-4) took an early two-goal advantage in the Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup before Ali Said notched her first goal late in the first half.
Lauren Gray and Michaela Bigsby each added an assist in the tie for DWU, while goalkeeper Erika Carpenter made 14 saves.
The Tigers play Briar Cliff at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.
DWU men’s soccer falls to Midland 3-0
FREMONT, Neb. — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer team lost 3-0 to Midland University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference match Saturday in Fremont, Neb.
The Warriors got two goals from Alan Craig, including a tally less than three minutes into the contest.
DWU goalkeeper Alex Nelson made seven saves on 10 shots in the loss.
The Tigers (8-6-2, 3-4-1 GPAC) play Briar Cliff at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in Sioux City, Iowa.
Brunke, Willet lead DWU XC at Mount Marty
YANKTON — The Dakota Wesleyan University cross country team sent eight runners to the Mount Marty Invitational Saturday in Yankton.
Freshman Kellan Willet led the men’s team with a 30th-place finish in a time of 26 minutes, 51.67 seconds.
The DWU women were led by Haley Brunke, who took 44th with a time of 20:25.50.
DWU next competes at the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships Nov. 9 in Seward, Neb.
