PARKSTON -- Brady Nolz struck out 17 batters for the Parkston Mudcats in a 10-0 win in eight innings over Tripp/Delmont in the first round of the District 5 amateur baseball tournament Thursday at The Pond in Parkston.

Nolz went all eight innings, allowing three hits in the win. The Mudcats play the winner of the Dimock/Emery and Mount Vernon game at 7 p.m. Sunday. The Raptors and Cardinals play at 8 p.m. today in Parkston.

Jeff Fish finished with three hits, including a two-run home run and four RBIs for the Mudcats in the win. Pat Harris added two hits and two RBIs, while Dan Bonte had two singles.

Chance Roth, Cody Dozark and Tyler Payer each finished with a single for the Indee Jacks. Jeff Friman took the loss on the mound for Tripp/Delmont, which plays the loser of Dimock/Emery and Mount Vernon at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Parkston.

Alexandria 16, Parkston Bullheads 0

PARKSTON -- The No. 1 Alexandria Angels beat the Parkston Bullheads 16-0 in five innings in the opening game of the District 5 amateur baseball tournament Thursday in Parkston.

Alexandria was led by starting pitcher Cory Marek, who allowed two hits and earned the win by tossing five innings with eight strikeouts.

Tyson Gau went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Chris Marek went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Angels.

Alexandria (21-2) plays the winner of Corsica/Stickney and Platte at 5 p.m. Sunday in Parkston. The Bullheads play the loser of Corsica/Stickney and Platte at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Plankinton 10, Chamberlain 2

PIERRE -- Tyler Fermau pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts to lead Plankinton over Chamberlain 10-2 in the opening round of the District 3 amateur baseball tournament Thursday in Pierre.

Trevor Salmonson went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Kyle Brunisma added a double and scored two runs to lead the Bankers. Josh Geppert and Trevor Boyd each added a double and triple, respectively.

The losing pitcher for Chamberlain was Neil Hylla who pitched four innings. Chris Konechne had two hits to lead Chamberlain.

Plankinton (14-13) plays Wessington Springs at 4 p.m. Saturday.
