Armour - Amanda R. Ruff, 98, died at Golden Living Center in Armour on Friday, February 7, 2014. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church near Armour, SD with burial following in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery near Armour. Visitation will be Friday, February 14, 2014 from 5 - 7 PM at Koehn Bros. Funeral Home in Armour with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Amanda R. Ruff was born on June 23, 1915 to Joseph and Lydia (Drefs) Batterman in Douglas County, SD. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church near Armour. She attended country school in Douglas County, SD south of Delmont, SD. She married Albert Ruff at St. Peter Lutheran Church near Armour. They farmed near Armour, SD then Delmont, SD. She worked as a cook at Delmont Public School, Gurney's Seeds in Yankton, a ladies dress shop in Mitchell, and the Senior Citizens in Armour. Amanda was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church near Armour. She enjoyed making crafts, flowers, and playing cards. She moved to Golden Living Center in Armour on April 6, 2009 where she died on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the age of 98.
She is survived by her daughter, LaVonne (Doug) Lang of Lake City, FL, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Jerry, and 7 brothers and sisters, Anna Jurczewsky, Herman Batterman, Leonard Batterman, Bill Batterman, Elsie Lau, Emma Olawsky, Elmer Batterman, and Art Batterman.
