Ag-themed author to speak at Augustana
The Augustana Library Associates presents award-winning Minnesota author Catherine Friend at 7:30 .m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, in Kresge Recital Hall.
Friend's need to write is apparent in the range of her publications from her first memoir "Hit By a Farm: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Barn" (2006) chronicling her "transformation from Minneapolis city slicker to rural Minnesota shepherd" to "The Compassionate Carnivore" (2008) in which Friend offers a "unique and intimate perspective on the morals, economics and practicalities of raising and eating meat humanely."
Tickets will be available at the door. General admission is $6; Library Associates members $4; children and Augustana students are free. For information call the Mikkelsen Library at (605) 274-4921.
