AARP/Postal carriers seek to stamp out hunger
South Dakotans will have an opportunity to participate in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive this weekend.
The drive is sponsored by the AARP Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of Letter Carriers and the U.S. Postal Service.
AARP South Dakota's Cathy McLeer says for about 5 percent of older South Dakotans, food insecurity is a problem.
To be part of the food drive, put canned goods in a Stamp Out Hunger hunger sack and leave it near your mailbox today.
Last year, the U.S. Postal Service picked up more than 74 million pounds of food nationwide.
