33-year-old dead man identified as Dustin Lee Jones
Mitchell police have identified the man whose death they began investigating Monday.
Det. Lt. Don Everson confirmed the man’s identity Tuesday morning.
“A preliminary autopsy report shows there were no signs of foul play,” he said in an interview with The Daily Republic. “But there are more tests that have to be done yet, like toxicology.”
Everson said a toxicology report can take a few weeks to come back because testing is sent out to a laboratory, like the state lab in Pierre.
Jones was found dead in his home in the 200 block of West 10th Avenue by a person who knew him, Everson said.
“We have our suspicions of how he died, but I won’t comment on it until results come back,” Everson said of the final autopsy results and lab tests.
