YANKTON (AP) — A judge has ordered a second psychiatric evaluation for a man accused of killing his uncle in Yankton.

A psychiatric exam done at the request of defense attorney Dan Fox concluded that Joshua Hudson is not mentally competent to face charges. Yankton County State's Attorney Erich Johnke requested a second test be done by a doctor selected by the prosecution, and Judge Glen Eng on Monday agreed.

The Daily Press & Dakotan reports that Hudson will be placed at the South Dakota Human Services Center while the case proceeds. A status hearing is scheduled July 21.

Hudson is accused of using a hammer to kill 46-year-old Todd Hudson on March 7. He could face life in prison if convicted.
