The Argus Leader reports Regina Johnson and Robert Jackson both pleaded guilty to a drug conspiracy charge and were sentenced to 17 1/2 years in federal prison Monday.

A Sioux Falls motel worker called police March 27 after Johnson called the front desk and demanded to return to the room from which she recently had checked out. Officers stopped the couple's car and found meth and cash inside.

Police say they seized a total of $90,000 during the investigation — $80,000 of it from under a motel room mattress — plus almost 9 pounds of meth.

Johnson's son, 19-year-old Austin Dalstead, and another co-defendant, Jeffrey Strom, await sentencing.
