1,300 Mitchell customers suffer power outage
A power outage hit the southwest part of Mitchell on Monday night, affecting more than 1,300 customers.
NorthWestern Energy Spokesman Tom Glanzer said the outage happened around 5 p.m. Monday. By 6 p.m., he said the problem had been located inside a substation, but crews were still trying to figure out the cause and subsequent repair. He was unsure of how long it would take to restore power to the area.
He said the outage also affected traffic lights in the area.
“It’s going to affect any infrastructure that utilizes electricity,” Glanzer said.
A dispatcher for Mitchell Public Safety said there were no accidents as a result of the outage.
