Wilson C. Roberts purchased the Navin Hotel on Sept. 11, 1945 for $72,000 and changed the name to Hotel Roberts. The hotel was built in 1911 and was the first fire-proof hotel built in South Dakota. All of the large Mitchell hotels were destroyed by fire except The Navin. Don Beebe purchased the hotel to use as a nursing home in 1963 and it remained a nursing home until 1990. The building is now the Navin Apartments.
